Victoria’s Flight kennt hierzulande noch so gut wie niemand. Bei der Band handelt es sich um die Musiker um Matt Roberts und Craig Harkness, die sich schon aus Kindheitstagen aus Glasgow kennen. Also die Stadt, die für Live-Musik und auch deren Kultur ja regelrecht weltbekannt ist. Wirklich schottisch klingt die Single “Love Will Come Back” jetzt nicht und auch der Akzent sticht nicht so heraus wie erwartet. Dennoch formen die Schotten hier einen wirklich pointierten Indie-Song.

Bisher steht eine EP zu Buche und darüber hinaus drei weitere Singles. “Love Will Come Back” ist die nun dritte Single seit der ersten EP aus dem Jahr 2017. Sie klingt frühlingshaft euphorisch und handelt davon, dass sich das Schicksal immer wieder zum Guten wendet und die besten Zeiten noch bevor stehen. Sie sprechen uns also Mut zu und wollen, dass wir nicht verzagen. Ob ein einzelner Song dazu ausreicht? Wahrscheinlich nicht, aber der Track lässt einem das Herz aufgehen und die positive Grundstimmung in dem Song bewirkt, dass wir Victoria’s Flight in unser Herz schließen. Insgesamt sind Victoria’s Flight schon auch gerne für den romantischen Sound zu haben. Sie weinen Krokodilstränen wenn der Sommer vorbei ist („Last Days of Summer“) oder wünschen sich ins Paradies. Die Schotten entpuppen sich zu einer Band, die mit den harten Gefühlen eines jeden spielt, ihnen aber Lösungen und Auswege bietet. Bitte nicht verbittert sein oder sich zuhause verschanzen, wir kriegen das schon hin! Nach dem Motto konzipieren sie ihre Songs und das macht wirklich Spaß ihnen zuzuhören.

For German readers, this will be the first contact with your music. What impression do you want to give the audience with your song?

Victoria’s Flight: We want our love Will come back to speak for its self. When we write music the whole point is for each song to stand alone and have its own unique identity. With ‘love Will Come back’ its a pretty different vibe from our two previous singles, and you can definitely hear that, but that’s important to us, to be different and ever changing. The last thing we want to do is go and write 10 of the same songs and call it an album. Never.

Your single „Love Will Come Back“ wants to give us courage to speak. What do you think words can do when you speak them up to someone in an uplifting way?

Victoria’s Flight: Love Will Come Back lyrically sounds quite dark and depressing at times but the tempo and the sonic heart and vibe is upbeat and almost euphoric at points and this was totally intentional. It’s meant to say; this isn’t the end of something good. It’s meant to scream, at this is just the beginning of something great.

Why do you think courage and encouragement are not enough to change something for the better?

Victoria’s Flight: Sometimes encouragement isn’t enough and you know what it’s like to have people tell you things you don’t want to hear. So that’s where music comes in. It can be a vehicle for change and when it makes you feel something that words can’t, well then that’s the magic of music.
