The Entrepreneurs liefern 8 neue Tracks.

What do you think of a modern man in Europe? How does he compare to a man from North Carolina?

The Entrepreneurs: I really don’t think we are the right people to answer this question. In many ways I think that men of the western world are very much the same – whether you come from Europe or the US makes little difference. Of course, there are specific cultural differences, but what I find interesting about people of the 21st century in general is that most of us are unsure of ourselves and our place on earth. Some internalise these feelings, some write about it and some turn to violence and conflict.

Among other things, it’s about being in constant communication with yourself. What exactly do you mean by that?

The Entrepreneurs: By being in constant communication or conversation with yourself, you gain an assuredness regarding your feelings and where you are going in life, I guess. I see the dialogue I have with myself as a way of touching base with my feelings towards my surroundings and people around me that I care about.

Actually, I meant that the songs have been ready since 2017, or the ideas for them were created in the States. And if you now compare what has happened since 2017… it would be interesting to know to what extent they are aware of that, to have created a work far away from Corona, the crisis and yet to take up such a current topic.

The Entrepreneurs: Some of the lyrics have a societal commentary embedded in them and it is remarkable to me that these particular lyrics haven’t lost their relevance. On the contrary, they seem to have become more relevant. But I think a lot of what we touch upon in these songs has been a long time coming. People have a tendency to talk, shout and yell without listening -and people continuously choose conflict and ignorance over compromise and understanding. All of that, I fear, will be a part of Western society for years to come. I really hope it changes.

The fact that you were in the States in 2017 plays an important role in your artistic work. 2020 was characterized by isolation, fewer social contacts, etc. by Corona. Do you think that nothing creative can grow out of this year, because you could experience less inspiring moments?

The Entrepreneurs: Definitely not! We have been extremely creative during 2020 and in the beginning of 2021. We are very fortunate that we have access to our own little studio (the same studio we recorded most of Wrestler in) and, in this space, we have been working in-depth on a lot of new material. Different settings and situations offer different outputs, and in our case we find that a constant change of scenery, dogmatic approaches etc. is what we need to be creative. Wrestler was created in a time of exploration. The next album might be more introverted because we stayed put, but I don’t see that as a problem in opposition to our experiences in the States. Who knows – maybe the fourth album will be in space.

An album release without a subsequent tour. How are you dealing with this and what are your plans for 2021?

The Entrepreneurs: For the moment, we are trying to stay positive. We hope that our international fans and listeners will be ready for when we are allowed to travel, and that the coming album is able to grow and that people can get to know it intimately. I think you have to stay as positive as possible during these times and, instead of panicking, we try to be creative and think of new ways of getting to the listeners. Fortunately, there are lot of digital opportunities these days, so maybe we can come up with something we can send out via the world wide web.
