TORGNY – Norwegischer aufstrebender DJ im Porträt

Aus Oslo kommt mit TORGNY ein junger aufstrebender DJ, der am 31. Januar sein Album „Oil Panic“ hierzulande releasen wird. Das Soundkartell hat ihm ein paar grundlegende Fragen gestellt und stellt ihn euch vor.
Bei TORGNY handelt es sich um einen überaus talentierten DJ und Producer aus Oslo, der jetzt am 31. Januar sein erstes Album in Deutschland herausbringen wird. Getauft hat er es „Oil Panic“ und wird hoffentlich hierzulande seinen wohl größten Traum erfüllen: endlich eine deutschlandweite Tour durch die angesagten Clubs in Deutschland.
Die Presse prophezeit schon jetzt, dass er davor gar nicht allzu weit entfernt ist. Von einer Neuerfindung des D.I.S.C.O sprechen die einen und von einer innovativen Art Elektro und Pop zu vereinen die anderen. Fakt ist, dass mit seinem Debüt ein Album erscheinen wird, dass es so in dieser Form bisher in Deutschland noch nicht gibt.
Seine Titel sind gleichzeitig melancholisch und düster. Treiben durch ihre Hardcore Einflüsse aber auch ordentlich nach vorne. Das rührt daher, da TORGNY zuvor in der Hardcore-Szene zu Hause war und erst später auf die elektronischen Schienen umsattelte. Die Auswahl seiner Titel ist dabei sehr abwechslungsreich ausgefallen. So wechseln sich wie im Titelsong „Oil Panic“ melodisch-elektronisch Arrangements ebenso ab, wie brachiale Beats und Rhythmen.
Ein beispielhafter Track hierfür ist unter anderem auch „Galactic“ der eben genau mit jenen Stilmitteln arbeitet. Dieser Einblick ist bisher nur ein exklusiver, denn im Netz finden sich bis zu seinem Release nicht allzu viele Tracks.

TORGNY: „From Oslo, Norway. Born and bred. It started with Hardcore Music, Hip Hop beats, BMX and then skateboarding.“

TORGNY: „Non musical items? How about a Heidegger book under a pair of Nike Jordans topped with a vintage Rolex? LOL“

TORGNY: „Champagne and veggie burger!“

TORGNY: „Iced coffee and coffee in general.“

TORGNY: „None. Coolness is important, not status.“

TORGNY: „Donald Rumsfeld, a very evil person. I would waterboard him and then throw him to the sharks!“
Soundkartell: Which song should be played on your funeral?
TORGNY: „Bach. And something more percussive, but I dunno what. My grandmother just passed away and at her funeral we played „Flyin’ Shoes“ by Townes van Zandt. It was beautiful.“
